Available Course & Events for On-line Booking
Due to the Coronavirus pandemic we currently have a reduced programme of courses available.
Please select the right course from the list below. Members of Midland Sailing Club can book at a discounted rate:
Stand-Up Paddle boarding is a quick and easy way to get on the water. You don’t need a long training course, just an introductory 1 hr session, and you’re good to go! You can hire SUP’s on an hourly basis to have a go whenever you want. For members of Midland Sailing Club, paddle board hire is included in the membership.
OnBoard is the RYA’s programme for younger sailors. We run regular sessions for juniors to have fun on the water and improve their skills, all guided by fully-qualified RYA instructors.
Please note that in order to take part in an OnBoard session juniors have to be able to sail at least to RYA Stage 2 standard. For less experienced junior sailors we are running regular training courses.
Race school is a regular session where you will have the opportunity to practice your racing skills.
The stage 1 courses are open to kids from age 8 to 10. They are aimed at total beginners who want to learn how to sail, but might not have set foot into a dinghy before. In the Stage 1 course you will learn the basics of sailing, and some practical techniques and manoeuvres. In the subsequent courses (which have no age restriction), you will build on the skills towards the completion of the RYA Youth Stage certificates.
The RYA Level 1 Course (Start Sailing) is aimed at adults who have no prior experience in dinghy sailing. We will take you from beginner to able sailor through our course programme, and the Level 1 course is the first step.
The RYA Level 2 Course (Basic Skills) is aimed at adults who have completed the RYA Level 1 course. It reinforces the basic skills necessary to control a dinghy up to a point where you can sail with confidence. Having the RYA Level 2 certificate generally enables you to hire dinghies in many places.
This session does not include formal coaching, but you will get assistance rigging and launching your boat and a safety boat will be on the water too. Available for both Sailing and Paddle boarding.
You must be 16 years and above, with the cost being £5 for members (£10 for Non members), this includes boat hire or paddle-board hire, wetsuits and buoyancy aids.Booking is not essential, but if you wish to guarantee the equipment then please complete your online booking for sailing or Paddle Boarding (SUP) this will help Phil plan ahead. If you want to hire a specific boat, please WhatsApp or text Phil Reeves (07894 434313) with the boat you require before booking to double check availability.
